We were privileged to have a professional storyteller and environmental artist, Gordon McLellan, aka Creeping Toad, work with a group of S2 pupils over two full days to learn about the Cairngorms through the art of storytelling.

Pupils were enthralled with the stories and the activities, and were tasked with creating their own pop-up cards, storybooks and poems which they then performed to each other. They used interesting props and tookinspiration from a walk to the Linn Braes woods where they created collaborative story lines and gathered natural materials.

The pupils will perform their stories and poems at the next Cairngorms John Muir Award gathering at the end of September, where they will also hear the stories Creeping Toad created with two primary school classes in the National Park.
