Higher/Advanced Higher


Performing:  You will have your own targets for your instruments or voice.  Remember the examining period starts on 10 February for Higher and Int 2, April for Advanced Higher, and you should make sure your programmes are timed to 10 minutes for instrument 1 and 5 mins for instrument 2.  Drum kit players should ensure they have five contrasting styles.


Composing:  The deadline for composition 2 still remains Thursday, 19 December 2013.  Make sure you are completing your composition and are providing a score/performance plan and programme note. 


Your programme note should include your name, candidate number and the title of your piece.  The subtitles for each section should be:



  • Aim

  • Resources

  • Significant decisions

  • Use of technology

  • Use of extemporisation

  • Audio recording arrangements

  • Process

  • Concepts

Listening and Music Literacy:  The website Learn Listening Online should be used to learn and revise concepts.  The literacy booklet should be complete.
