European Day of Languages was celebrated last week across the school with a Euro Quiz in S1 and S2 classes, build an Eiffel Tower engineering project, European menu in the canteen and an S1 poster competition.  Well done to all of our winners – photos can be seen on the Modern Languages Twitter page - @Speyside_MFL.

Well done to all pupils who took part in the Goodall Cup Inter-House Football Tournament on Monday 2 October.  Great to see so many happy, healthy and high achieving young people enjoying physical activity outdoors!  Many thanks to the Senior Sports Leader class for organising the tournament itself.  Results are as follows:

1st: Fiddich – 72 points

2nd: Livet – 57 points

3rd: Rinnes – 48 points

Congratulations to Mairi Weir [S5] who has just become the British W16 Sprint Orienteering Champion!  This is a fantastic achievement Mairi, and nothing less than your dedication and talent deserves!

All pupils are reminded that 'Block 2' starts after the holidays.  Your PE teacher will talk to you about the activities that you are taking part in, and the PE kit that you will need.  All pupils can check the yellow timetable at the department entrance in order to get more information.  S4 Core PE class lists for after the holidays are already on the PE notice-board - make sure you have your swimming kit if you are kayaking!  To help all pupils prepare for PE classes next term, a reminder will be put onto 'Show My Homework'.  Any questions, then please see any PE teacher.

On Friday 6 October a Business Conference took place for Senior Business Management students.  During the day a variety of local business people talked to the students and carried out workshops with them in different functional areas.  This gave the students both an insight into real business life and valuable information for their Business Management course.  The Business conference was very interesting, informative and really enjoyed by everyone involved.  A special thank you to everyone who gave their time to the students.

On the evening of Wednesday 4 October we hosted our Positive Pathways event.  We had a number of local business representatives and Further/Higher Education representatives along with staff members attending.  Parents/carers have been invited to sign up for workshops to support positive pathways for their young people.

The Sponsored Walk was a huge success.  Thank you to all staff and pupils involved.

The term has been another busy one.  I am delighted at how well S1 have settled in.  The parents/carers evening for S1 was a great success with 81% of parents/carers attending.  Thank you – can any other year group beat that?

Finally, I would like to wish all young people and their families and colleagues a relaxing and safe October holiday.
