S4 GUIDANCE PARENTS’ EVENINGS

As part of ensuring positive pathways for our young people, parents of S4 pupils are invited to attend a 10 minute appointment with their child’s Guidance Teacher to discuss course options for S5. Letters have been issued to all S4 parents.  Parents have the option of attending on Tuesday 13 or Wednesday 14 February or alternatively requesting a phone consultation.  Parents who have indicated that they would like an appointment will receive confirmation of their allocated date/time slot.

PRELIM EXAMS

These have now been completed.  Many thanks to our invigilation team who noted the impeccable behaviour of our young people during the prelim diet.

POST PRELIM SELF EVALUATION

Senior Pupils have all been issued with a booklet to use, in discussion with their teachers, their successes in their courses and the next steps they need to complete to ensure successful completion of their courses.  Parents and carers are encouraged to discuss these with their children and support them to ensure maximum success.

ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD

S5 pupils are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to attend RYLA summer camps this year.  Speyside Rotary very kindly fund a place for a boy and girl to attend.  At the camps they have the opportunity through outdoor activities to build upon their confidence as well leadership and communication skills.

S2 RELATIONSHIP DAY 8 FEBRUARY 2018

The SHS annual S2 Relationship Day took place on Thursday 8 February with inputs from the Samaritans, Police Scotland, Aberlour Youthpoint Moray, Moray Mental Health Team and Elgin Youth Café.  Pupils were involved in a range of activities with a focus on developing skills and understanding when working toward maintaining and improving relationships.

AUTHOR VISIT

The author, Alex McCall, visited the school at the end of January to speak to the S1 pupils about writing.  He also had a question and answer session to finish the afternoon’s presentation. It was a most enjoyable visit and one which should inspire pupils to write more!
