RYLA

Congratulations to Marc Cluckie and Kirsty Simmons who have been selected to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Award residential this year.  Many thanks to Speyside Rotary Club for supporting our young people in this way.

ASSESSMENT AND EXAM PREPARATION

With pupils missing out on 3 days of school last week it is imperative that they do everything they can to get caught up on work.  Deadlines for SQA coursework are fast approaching.  Until Easter we are running a Study Club for an hour after school and providing buses on our main routes.

MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES “SPEED DATING EVENT”

Thank you to all parents, staff and partners who supported the Mental Health Services “Speed Dating Event” on Thursday 8 March.  The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of mental health supports for children and their families.

S3 PHYSICS CLASS - I'M AN ENGINEER GET ME OUT OF HERE!

An online event where school students meet and interact with engineers.  It’s an X Factor-style competition between engineers, where the students are the judges.  Students challenge the engineers over fast-paced online live CHATs.  They ASK the engineers anything they want, and VOTE for their favourite engineer to win a prize of £500 to communicate their work with the public.  The Speyside students had the opportunity to have an on-line chat with six engineers working in the satellite industry.  They found out about the costs of putting satellites in space, how they are funded and some of the technical issues associated with this, e.g. how collisions are prevented and how they are protected from solar flares.
