CAIRNGORM STORYTELLING WORKSHOP

We were privileged to have a professional storyteller and environmental artist, Gordon McLellan, aka Creeping Toad, work with a group of S2 pupils over two full days to learn about the Cairngorms through the art of storytelling.


Pupils were enthralled with the stories and the activities, and were tasked with creating their own pop-up cards, storybooks and poems which they then performed to each

All S1 pupils received your invites to join us for a day on Wednesday the 2 October.  They are very excited about the idea of our “Parent class”.  We would love to see you at Speyside High for a “Day in the life” of an S1 pupil.  Please contact us if you didn’t receive your invitation.

DUFFTOWN HORTICULTURAL SHOW

Six pupils won prizes at the show.  They entered baking, photographs and craft.  Prizes ranged from First Place to Highly Commended.  Well done to Sam McIntosh, Alex Grant, Leo Dalgarno, Robyn McCormack, Charlie Osbaldiston and Michael Swan.

Sports Ambassadors

Our two Young Ambassadors with the sportScotland national programme recently benefited from attending an excellent conference at Aberdeen's Pittodrie stadium.

Zoey Gordon and Jack Mitchell in S4 have been selected to be the face of sports development in Speyside High School and encourage pupils to get involved in various sports and activities.

Athletics Success

Several pupils competed successfully in Athletics meetings last weekend. Emma Bowie won the Under 18 Hammerama at Livingstone where Jack Mitchell also competed and achieved a personal best  of 46.74m with a 4kg hammer.

In Inverness on Sunday Michael Laing had a new, big PB at javelin of 30.84m and Ben Mitchell closed his season with a new PB of 1.82m at the high jump.
