Sustainable Education Review: The Future for Moray Schools’

Members of the public are being encouraged to take part in an online survey as part of Moray Council’s sustainable education review.

The survey is the first of two being carried out as part of the review, which is designed to assist in highlighting the most important factors related to the school estate for the future provision of education in Moray.

Three of Speyside High School’s S6 pupils have been enjoying the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and learn about the unique qualities and issues of Scotland’s national parks through a residential experience with other senior pupils from across Scotland.

Members of the Social Enterprise Traidcraft Group (Jodie Smith, Cara Dent, Aimee McDonald and Natalie Taylor) attended another meeting of the Steering Group to Achieve Fairtrade Town Status for Aberlour which was held in the Aberlour Tearoom at 7pm on Tuesday evening.

Forty-five S3 and 4 pupils along with Mr Cordiner of the Physics Department attended the Institute of Physics 2013 Lecture – “Defying Gravity: Make physics your launch pad”, at Elgin Academy on Friday 6 September 2013.  This inspiring lecture revealed how physics has allowed us to travel into space and how entrepreneurs are opening up space to new generations through space tourism.

We were privileged to have a professional storyteller and environmental artist, Gordon McLellan, aka Creeping Toad, work with a group of S2 pupils over two full days to learn about the Cairngorms through the art of storytelling.

Pupils were enthralled with the stories and the activities, and were tasked with creating their own pop-up cards, storybooks and poems which they then performed to each
